Executive, Artist and Business Development.
Jane has an empathetic, practical & highly commercial approach to developing talent, whether executive, artist or business-related.
Over the years Jane has mentored multiple executives, both formally and informally, whether individually or through the creation of peer mentoring networks. Many executives have gone on to build businesses, receive awards and other recognition. Peer mentoring is inexpensive and highly productive, creating a self-sufficient, self-supporting network. In 2007 Jane was asked by CC Skills to set up a mentoring network for young women in the Music Industry, at least 3 of whom have since been honoured by the Queen, while others have gone on to receive multiple industry accolades. In 2018 Jane replicated the network while at the Music Publishers Association with immediate impact on the executives concerned, and has replicated it privately for clients - peer mentoring remains one of the most effective and inexpensive ways of developing talent.
Jane has worked closely with a multitude of artists, at various stages of their career, whether at Virgin Music, Warner/Chappell Music Ltd or privately. Jane created a songwriting camp for young musicians in Suffolk, many of whom have since made a career out of music. Jane has advised artists at all stages of their career, recently advising a young songwriter signing her first deal with Universal Records as well as a 1980s icon looking to restructure their music publishing catalogue.
Jane advised young, fast-growing businesses both formally and informally. An early supporter of digital music services, Jane has worked closely with Spotify, Google, Amazon, Apple and many others. Jane currently mentors for incubators such as Abbey Road Red, the Rattle and the #NextStageChallenge.
Vinod Birdi was on the Music Publishers Association Peer Mentoring cohort 2018/19. He says “From the group support sessions to the tough love of my one to one session with Jane, I cannot thank her enough for steering my career into the direction I desperately needed it to go, and for the friends I have made for life.”
Another private client, upon securing his dream job said: “you have been absolutely fundamental to me getting to this point, and I am immensely grateful for everything you have done for me”.
